CHAPTER 10: Is It All Pretend?

## **Lee Yoon-seo**

There are kisses. And then there are *KISSES.*

That was the second kind.

---

The morning after was supposed to be normal. Business as usual. Fake marriage, pretend couple, all contractual, all clean. Right?

Wrong.

Because the moment I unlocked my phone —

> **\[BREAKING] CEO Ji Hoon-min & Wife Lee Yoon-seo’s Kiss Goes Viral — Netizens Say “This Can’t Be Fake”**

“Oh no no no no—”

---

## **Cue Family Group Chat Explosion™**

**Umma:** 👀 *So... not fake, huh?*

**Ah-rin (SIL):** *WE. SAW. EVERYTHING. 💅*

**Hoon-jae (Brother):** *Bro, you owe us a REAL explanation. And also... HOW. DARE. YOU. Have main character chemistry IRL.*

**Umma:** *I expect grandkids. No pressure.*

**Hoon-min:** *EVERYONE OUT OF THIS CHAT.*

**Hoon-min removed Umma.**

**Hoon-min removed Hoon-jae.**

**Hoon-min removed Ah-rin.**

---

## **Scene 1: Office? Nope. Warzone.**

Walking into the office felt like walking into a battlefield.

People whispered. Pointed. Stared.

“Did you see the kiss video?”

“Bro... that’s not acting.”

“Someone get them a drama contract...”

---

Then there was him.

**Ji Hoon-min.** Standing by the coffee machine. Shirt sleeves rolled up. Jaw clenched. Hair pushed back in a way that should be ILLEGAL before 9 AM.

---

“Good morning,” I tried, pretending I wasn’t having a heart attack.

His eyes flicked up. Dark. Sharp. “Morning.”

Tension. So much tension. You could slice it with a butter knife and serve it for brunch.

---

“You... uh... saw the news?” I fumbled.

He crossed his arms. “Hard to miss.”

A beat.

Then, voice lower — dangerous — “So... was it pretend for you?”

---

I choked on air. “Excuse me?”

“The kiss.” His eyes didn’t waver. “Was it pretend?”

---

## **Scene 2: Enter the Second Lead Menace™**

Cue Min-jun strolling in like a literal walking *threat to male leads.*

“Morning, Yoon-seo,” he said, smooth as silk. “You look stunning. Glowing, actually. Must be that post-kiss radiance.”

---

Hoon-min’s jaw visibly *cracked.*

“Do you have a meeting here, or are you just trespassing?” he snapped.

“Business proposal. But if you’d prefer, I can schedule in ‘stealing your wife’ for later.” Min-jun smiled — politely. Deadly.

---

I fake-coughed. “Gentlemen. Please.”

---

## **Scene 3: The Tension That Breaks Something Inside Both**

In the boardroom, tension snapped like wires.

Every accidental brush of hands. Every glance. Every time his gaze dropped to my lips like he *didn’t mean to but absolutely did.*

---

“You’re avoiding the question,” he muttered, leaning in during a quiet moment.

“What question?” I asked, pretending my heart wasn’t trying to claw out of my chest.

“Was. It. Pretend.” His breath was warm against my ear. His fingers brushed mine — “Because I don’t think I can keep doing this if it was.”

---

## **Scene 4: Chaos, Confession... Almost**

Phone buzzed.

> **\[BREAKING] Anonymous Source Claims Ji Hoon-min & Lee Yoon-seo’s Marriage Is FAKE**

---

Both of us froze.

“No. No no no no—”

He slammed his laptop shut. “Who leaked this?!”

My phone blew up. Messages. Calls. Headlines.

---

“Is this... is this over?” I whispered.

His gaze snapped to me. “NO.”

---

Hoon-min gripped my wrist. “Don’t. Don’t even think about walking away. I—”

A pause. His mouth opened. Closed. His hands trembled. “I don’t know what this is anymore. But it’s not fake. Not for me.”

---

My throat dried. “...Hoon-min—”

But the door burst open.

**The press. The board members. The rumors. The world.**

Crashing. Collapsing. Everything spinning.

---

## **Final Line:**

As he pulled me behind him, shielding me from the cameras, the only thing I heard was him saying — low, broken —

**“Mine. You’re mine. Whether the world believes it or not.”**

Winter Beauty — Writer. Dreamer. Story Weaver. I write stories that can whisper, scream, or simply exist in silence. My words wander between genres — sometimes soft and poetic, sometimes dark and emotional, sometimes quiet enough to feel real. I believe writing isn’t about one voice; it’s about many — the tender, the bold, the broken, and the brave. Through every story, I explore what it means to be human, to feel deeply, and to translate emotions into art. Whether it’s a love that feels like winter, a tragedy that lingers like memory, or a line that sounds like a heartbeat — I write it all. Because every story deserves its own kind of beauty.
